SERVICES

Individualized therapy for adults (18 - 55) and seniors who are 55 years old & better.

Therapy is an individualized process of restoring hope. Megan provides individual therapy to address anxiety, depression, aging-related issues, trauma, stress and more through the convenience of teleheath appointments. Megan uses evidenced-based modalities; cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, trauma-focused therapy, cognitive processing therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy. Some folks come in for brief short-term counseling and benefit from a more direct approach with solution-focused therapy. Therapy looks different on everyone.

Aging-Related Issues

The aging process impacts a person's physical and mental health. As people age they are not always able to accomplish tasks in the same way that they have been doing. There may be a change in their life or a new stressor; such as recovery from a fall or a surgery, adjusting to having help in their home or moving into an assisted living facility or a long-term care facility, decline in physical health, loss of a loved one, outliving most of their friends, chronic and multiple medical conditions or adjusting to retirement.

Entering therapy at this stage in a person's life can be an opportunity for self-reflection, as well as a place to learn new skills to enhance their life.

Anxiety

Everyone at some point in their lives experiences anxiety. However, when it begins to interfere in your everyday living then it can be helpful to address it in therapy. Anxiety can emerge in social settings with certain people or places, and sometimes it appears without an apparent reason. It can feel like a roller coaster ride that keeps going and going.

In therapy you can gain a better understanding of your anxiety and develop coping strategies that can reduce or possibly diminish it.

Medical Conditions

Dealing with multiple medical conditions goes far beyond the challenges of the diagnosis. It changes the way you view yourself, your relationships with others, your place in the world and your future goals. There is also a loss of trust with your body when it is not doing what it was designed to do.

There is grief and loss experienced with each diagnosis, and with that there are a lot of intense emotions that a person experiences on a daily basis. Therapy is a space for a person to grieve their loss of health and learn new ways to modify their ways of living to improve their mental health.
